Rocktape® and remedial movement

ABOUT ROCKTAPE® and remedial movement

RockTape® and remedial movements are two of the most important self care tools clients are sent home with to empower their ability to make progress out of the office.

RockTape® and similar products have gained great popularity over the last few decades due in great part to its use by Olympic athletes since the mid 1990's. RockTape® acts by gently lifting the skin away from the muscle and fascia beneath it. This decompresses areas of swelling and inflammation. This allows for by-products of inflammation and swelling to be flushed out of tissues more quickly and greatly accelerates the healing process. It also wards off fatigue by opening up capillaries and blood vessels, allowing for oxygen and nutrients to rapidly permeate the area. This makes it an ideal tool for both the injured and able-bodied alike, both speeding up recovery as well as enhancing performance.

RockTape® also acts at the level of the central nervous system by cueing the body through the nerves in the skin, making it easier to coordinate proper movement. This aids in the activation of underactive structures and provides support and stability to muscles and joints. Unlike traditional taping designed to prevent movement, RockTape® allows full range of motion. It is latex free and can be worn for up to 5 days, including while swimming or in the shower.

Some of the benefits of RockTape® include:

  • Activates underactive muscles and relaxes overactive muscles

  • Accelerates lymphatic drainage and accelerates circulation

  • Provides supports for joints, tendons, and ligaments

  • Reduces pain and inflammation

  • Encourages proper movement patterns

Having served as an instructor for many years at and completing a 500 hour diploma program through the National Personal Training Institute, covering exercise program design, detailed anatomy and physiology, nutrition instruction, and a practical internship, we are well versed in corrective exercise. We also have a personal background in competitive powerlifting and experience in working with golfers, having attended levels 1 and 2 of the Titleist Performance Institute Fitness Professional specialist trainings. After thoroughly assessing and treating whatever immediate concerns you may have in clinic, if appropriate, we will often assign and closely monitor a take-home exercise program to continue allowing you to continue progressing outside of in-person visits. Our ultimate philosophy is that rather than being indefinitely reliant on regular treatments, you should be provided with the tools to best help you to heal yourself and maintain the expected aches and pains that arise from time to time that come with living a dynamic life.
