Orthodontics

A few months back I had a young man come in complaining of severe discomfort after beginning orthodontic treatment.

While some tightness and mild pain is perhaps expected, pronounced discomfort should never be the expectation.

This poor guy couldn’t even open his mouth wide enough to get a straw in without wincing and having a sympathetic reaction.

Upon taking him through an evaluation, we found that his temporalis was hypertonic as well as having poor cranial mechanics.

We corrected dysfunctions along the squamous and cruciate sutures and restored proper glide through the TMJ. Added in a few corrections to account for imbalances within the mandibular ligaments and he was much improved.

Later that day he was onto eating soft foods without a problem.

While his discomfort has temporarily increased again with subsequent adjustments of the orthodontics, our work together has become an integral part of the process to make his experience as effective and manageable as possible.

In fact, his orthodontists have been so impressed with the rate of his progress that they’ve asked for a business card and initiated a networking connection.

Change someone’s life for a living and you’ll never really work a day.
